Help raise funds for society’s most vulnerable

ThinkFM delegates can help support some of society’s most vulnerable people by choosing to make a donation to BIFM chairman Stephen Roots’ chosen charities when booking their ticket.

In 2017 Stephen announced that BIFM will support  Alzheimer’s Society and housing and homeless charity Shelter as his nominated charities during his two-year tenure as BIFM chairman.

“Over the years, the generosity of BIFM members and those who attend our events has raised thousands upon thousands of pounds to support the vital work of good causes and I look forward to these two excellent charities benefitting over the next 24 months,” he said. “Together, we can make a very real difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our society.”

BIFM continues to the support these charities in 2018. Delegates can choose to donate any amount when booking tickets.

About Alzheimer’s Society

The number of people with dementia is steadily increasing and it is estimated that there will be 1 million people with dementia in the UK by 2025, whilst the financial cost of dementia to the UK is estimated at £26billion per annum. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity, there for anyone affected by any form of dementia.

The charity provides information and practical and emotional support to help people live well with dementia, and invests in world class research with the ultimate goal of defeating this currently incurable disease.

The society also campaigns to improve public understanding of dementia and the devastating impact it can have, and make sure it is taken seriously and acted on by government.

About Shelter

In 2016, Shelter turned 50 and the housing crisis facing the UK is as challenging and as far from fixed as it was in 1966. Fewer houses are being built despite repeated promises from recent government. There are too many families in temporary accommodation, house prices continue to rise and conditions in parts of the private rented sector are as bad as have been seen in decades.

Shelter campaigns to support those in need and focus on the core belief that everyone should have a safe, secure and affordable home.
