For the fourth year running, Sodexo – the world’s largest services company – has been confirmed as headline sponsor for this year’s ThinkFM conference taking place in London on 1 May 2018.
Commenting on the headline announcement, Sean Haley, regional chairman, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “ThinkFM is an important event on the FM calendar, where professionals from our industry can listen to and take part in thought-provoking discussions on the challenges and opportunities we are experiencing today.
“FM remains an important industry, through the services we deliver we enable our clients to focus on their core business and to deliver their key business objectives, while we use our expertise to deliver services efficiently and effectively.
“In order to adapt and embrace the future needs of our clients and customers we have to accept that the environment in which we operate does change. An example being on the increasing dependence on automaton in the workplace. We shouldn’t fear that this will be at the expense of people because trends over the past 40 years show that new technologies have created more jobs than they have displaced and robots cannot replace a “human touch”.
“We are also seeing more disruptors, lean start-ups creating new innovative solutions, we need to continue to innovate ourselves but also work collaboratively with these start-ups to help reinforce the message that the FM industry is a valuable strategic partner for organisations in both the public and private sector.”
Now in its eighth year, ThinkFM is firmly established as the go-to conference for facilities management professionals and business leaders looking to make an impact through their facilities and workplace strategy. It aims to activate debate and future thinking to focus the FM profession on how it needs to evolve to deliver benefits to business, the economy and wider society.
The theme for 2018: Think(beyond)FM: Adapt or Disappear will feature debate by the industry’s leaders on contracts, profitability and the macro economic shocks which will impact on FM professionals. The flagship conference will also explore the opportunities that automation and big data can create for facilities management – and the potential pitfalls. Delegates to the conference will gain an understanding of the major cross-winds buffeting the sector and potential strategies that might be available to secure a stable future.
